How It Began

How It Began

Yan possesses over a decade of yoga experience and has trained with instructors across China, Singapore, and the United States. She practices multiple yoga disciplines including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Hot, and Ashtanga styles.

She initially turned to yoga as a graduate student seeking relief from academic pressures and discovered lasting benefits. Her teacher recognized her dedication and guided her toward advanced training, including instructor certification. Through this journey, Yan learned that yoga transcends physical poses — it represents understanding one's body and connection to the broader world.

Her background as a dancer influenced her yoga philosophy. She identifies comparable elements between dance and yoga practice: both cultivate flexibility and wellness through intentional movement sequences, which ultimately express deeper consciousness.

My Approach

Teaching as Sharing

Since 2010, Yan has led group classes, believing yoga benefits practitioners at all stages. Her flow-based sequences balance energizing instruction with accessibility. She intentionally crafts classes accommodating newcomers developing foundational skills alongside experienced practitioners seeking advanced variations.

Her pedagogical approach emphasizes introspection, helping students experience yoga's essence beyond aesthetic mastery.
